Impacts on water quality by in situ induced ozone‑oxygen oxidation in a
polluted urban reservoir
The climate of the region is sub-humid,with an annual average rainfall of 800 mm and a temperature of 22 °C according to the data collected by the Huejotzingo, San Juan Tetela, San Andres Calpan and Echeverria weather stations (CONAGUA, 2016). In its territory, it houses the 4th largestmegalopolis of the country and its population is approximately 3,303,679 inhabitants (Martinez-Tavera et al., 2017). Land use in the Alto Atoyac Basin corresponds mainly to agricultural land (64%), forest (22%), urbanization (22%), and grassland (4.95%). The industrial activities comprise a total of 14,000 industries where 8946 correspond to the metropolitan area of Puebla. The main drafts are the textile, mechanical metal, automotive, clothe tannery, food, chemical, petrochemical plastics, alloys and others (INEGI, 2010).
